Obituary of Randolph Crane

On Monday, November 25, 2019, Randy Crane, known affectionately by many as Dolph, gained his wings and overcame his deadly brain cancer at the age of 55 at home in Prosper, TX.

Randy was born, the youngest of twins, on February 7, 1964, in Middlesex, England to Randy Jr. and Joan Crane.  Growing up in Southern California, he followed in his father’s footsteps and enlisted in the United States Navy at age 19.  He served 6 years and returned to San Diego where he quickly met the love of his life, Leanne. They moved to Austin, Texas 2 years into their marriage where all 3 of their sons were born before ultimately ending up in Frisco, TX. It was in Frisco they made their life together and raised their 3 sons.  During their 27 years of marriage, they showed that great love affairs still happen with faith, lots of laughter, compromise, vulnerability, and the unyielding belief in each other’s goodness.

Randy is survived by his beloved wife Leanne and their 3 sons - Hunter, Logan, and Ian, his mom Joan, twin sister Jackie and her husband Bryan and son Kellen and daughter Teagan, his mother-in-law Ruby Rose, his brother-in-law David Rose and son Cole, brother-in-law Carey Rose and daughters Jessica, Jennifer, and Savannah, and sister-in-law Lisa Rose.  He is preceded in death by his father, Randy Crane Jr., and father-in-law Tom Rose.

Randy was a devoted husband and father. Anyone who knew Randy at all knew how proud he was of his wife and family.  His legacy, patriotism, and warrior spirit will be carried forward by his sons who all chose to serve in the military because of their father’s belief in and service towards our great nation.  Randy loved gaming with his boys and friends and would often encourage his wife to “enjoy a girl’s night out” so he could partake in some extra gaming time. As an avid DIYer, Randy tackled almost any project in or outside the house.  He could intuitively figure things out and wasn’t afraid to learn, via YouTube or “phone a friend” strategies, especially if power tools were involved. He loved photography, action movies, classic rock, the beach, date nights with his wife, and everything cars. He was sarcastic and provided everyone with unexpected laughter at his quick and witty comments.  If you were a friend of his, he was loyal for life and would do anything he could to help you out. This was who Randy Crane was - a loyal, devoted, courageous, funny, passionate, and loving man who never gave up on living even when life threw him an unexpected fireball in October 2018. “Don’t feel sorry for me,” he said. “It’s just a couple of brain tumors.  I got this!” He fought to love and live to the very end.

We know Randy is living it up in Heaven, zooming around Heaven’s autobahn in his Dodge Hellcat, and enjoying a long-overdue beer with his dad.  He will always be remembered for his grace, courage, warrior spirit, sarcasm, amazing smile, and great hugs. We love you, forever and always!!

In lieu of flowers, please consider making a donation to Fisher House, a non-profit organization that builds comfort homes for military & veteran families to stay in free of charge while their loved one is in the hospital.  They believe, as we do, a family’s love is sometimes the best medicine.
