I am glad I had the opportunity to attend the beautiful service for Randy Crane. He would have been tickled pink knowing so many people were there for him. I can hear him say with a big smile, "is this all for me?". I met Randy in High School through Greg Kydd (another HS friend and eventually my husband) in San Diego, California. Randy and I became fast friends and it was not long before we consider ourselves family. I always thought of Randy as brother. One year he called to wish me happy birthday. He said, "happy birthday you old fart", as I quickly replied, "remember you are 8 months older than me", his quick witted response was, " I may be older but I am better looking". We both broke out in laughter. Randy always made you feel special, his quick witted comments laced with sarcasm was never to be mean or hurtful, it was always in fun. Randy was a loyal friend and he always put his friends first. A good example was when Randy recieved the news of his cancer on October 5, my birthday, and instead of sharing the news that day with us he waited until the next day to break the news to Greg and I. He said, "I found out yesterday but waited until today because I did not want to ruin my birthday". Randy remained positive and faught strong to try to beat the cancer. Even up to the end he was still his quick witted self. On November 4th his last text to me was a video of a car racing on a dirt road. I texted him, "that looks like me leaving work", he texted back, "I am sure, because I seen your driving" and I responded with "LOL". I will forever miss is friendship. The world was better because he was in it and now Heaven is better because of him. May you rest peacefully in the arms of Angel's my friend until we all meet again. Fair Winds and Following Seas. Love you buddy, you got this.
