Shirli was a dear, long-time friend of mine and I am going to miss her so very much. Her insights into learning differences helped me and dozens of other parents. Many words come to mind when I think of Shirli: creative, gifted, passionate, funny, royal, fierce, poetic, loving, dignified, fashionable, caring, and graceful. I am hurting, but I know the Lord is holding her now.

Mom2, I will never say goodbye to you as you live closer to me than ever, in my heart. Words can’t describe the incredible women you were— you made my heart and soul so happy even in the hardest of times. You strived to live your life with purpose and it was effortless for you. Just your mere existence touched lives of so many people. I miss you and love you to the moon and back, beyond all the galaxies.

Shirli and I went to high school together. She was dating Don and I was dating Bill. Since I had been dating Bill for two years and she was just starting to date Don, she would often call me to “go get a coke”. That was code for dating advice needed. Bill and I have been happily married for 52 years and she and Don 51 years.

Such a blessing to have had her as a friend. She had such a funny sense of humor and always had the best advice. Thanks to Shirli... I will always celebrate a birthday month. She would not be happy about her age being published... she hid that well...ha! She will be deeply missed and never forgotten. Thankful for the many years of friendship.

Ms Shirli I am not ready to say goodbye. My kids arent grown and I still need your guidance. I can hear you chuckle and tell me I will be fine as I say these words. It was my blessing to have found your support group and in turn become your friend. You taught me so much. You held my hand through so much. You told me I could survive my crazy life. I will think of you each time I have chocolate and drive by Pandara Bread. Thanks for being my friend and mentor.

Shirli Salter saved my life during a time when I was struggling with raising six boys with multiple challenges. Her support group at FUMC Allen was a source of information, strength, and a unconditional love. We have truly lost a beautiful angel who gave back her soul to those in need. Well done, good and faithful servant. Until we meet again.

(Modified) Monarch Momma.. you were my bestie! We were alike yet so different but we had an unbreakable bond. We were always just a phone call, text or email away day or night. We laughed and cried together for over 25 years and we understood each other completely. You are the only person I have ever known who never disappointed me, hurt my feelings or made me mad. I am not sure how I am going navigate down here without you but I know you are still with me in my heart. I don’t intend to join you up there any time soon so save me a place so when I do get there we can talk again. I miss you MM.
