Celebration Of Life
Obituary of Mary M. Wogget Fournier
Mary M. Wogget Fournier, 73, went to be with the Lord on July 5, 2019 in her home in Burleson, Texas, after a valiant 19-year battle against Non-Hodgkin’s Lymphoma. Her steadfast faith in Christ inspired many and prevailed until the moment that the angels escorted her to her heavenly home.
Born on January 19, 1946 in Modesto, California, Wogget was the second of five children born to Herbert W. and Juliet Lozano Hykkonen, who both preceded her in death. She is survived by her brothers, David J. Hykkonen of Schulenburg, Texas, and Michael P. Hykkonen (Lyudmila) of Houston, Texas; sisters Patricia “Pat” Blais (Michael) of Burleson, Texas, and Beverly (David) of Bowie, Maryland; by several nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews, and numerous extended family members. Many friends, former co-workers, doctors and care-givers also mourn her passing.
In the 1970s Wogget operated Wogget’s Glass Shoppe in the historic South Street Seaport Museum in New York City. Her glassblowing demonstrations drew crowds of young people and old alike who were enthralled not only by her creativity, but by her quick wit, charm and graciousness. Her exclusive glass creations were as breath taking and beautiful as she was.
It was during this time that Wogget met her future husband Alex Fournier. They spent many years pursuing a love of bicycling in the country together while he continued a prolific career as one of the top 200 portrait artists in the country, represented by Portraits, Inc., of New York City. His collections included ambassadors, professional athletes, actors, musicians, and an award-winning charcoal portrait of Jazz artist Charlie Parker, which Alex donated for auction to the Pennsylvania Chapter of the American Cancer Society when he was fighting his own bout with cancer in 1992.
In 1993, Wogget began a lengthy career as a professional Motor Coach Driver in New York, New Jersey, and Pennsylvania. Tourism was a fitting choice. She enjoyed traveling, meeting new people, hearing their stories, and studying local cultures. Always warm and gracious, she easily and genuinely made friends all over the country.
In 2011, Wogget moved from Lansdale, Pennsylvania, to Burleson, Texas, to be near her family. She continued working part-time and retired from Gene’s Bus Charters in Burleson in 2016.
Wogget was kind without partiality, making others feel important and valuable regardless of their economic, social, intellectual, religious or racial backgrounds. She was gracious, supportive and loving toward all. She loved parties and get-togethers. Her presence and smile brightened the room when she entered. Her life revolved around her love for her family, for God, her fellow believers, and her devotion to her loyal companion dog Robbie, who brought her great joy in her final years.
Wogget’s bright light will be remembered at a Celebration of Life Service at 2:00 pm on Wednesday, August 7, 2019 at Pathway Church, 325 NW Renfro Street, Burleson, Texas 76028. In lieu of flowers her family requests that donations be made as a tribute to the indomitable spirit of M. Wogget Fournier to the Leukemia & Lymphoma Society at https://lls.org
