Obituary of Thomas Ormsby

Thomas March Ormsby

April 5, 1947 - May 24, 2019

Tom, 72, of Lavon, TX passed away on Friday, May 24, peacefully with his family by his side. Tom was a decorated Vietnam War Veteran who proudly served his country as a Radio Operator aboard the U.S.S Lexington in the US Navy.

Tom is survived by his wife, Janie Ormsby; son, Steve Ormsby; daughter and son-in-law, Christine and Ryan Taylor; brother, Michael Ormsby; along with his 4 grandchildren, Autumn, Nevaeh, Morgan, and Harmony.

He was preceded in death by his father and mother, Whitney and Helen Ormsby.

Throughout his career, Tom worked as a Purchasing Manager for Neiman Marcus, owned a Commercial Janitorial Service, and ended his career path as a Sales Associate at the Home Depot (Store #6537). He frequently spoke of his Home Depot family with great admiration, and we as his family truly appreciate all the kind words and prayers that have been expressed from the individuals who have worked along beside him.

Tom's generosity to others and positive outlook will be dearly missed by all who had the honor of meeting and knowing him. Our fond memories include his humor, love of music and astronomy, and his amazing gift at wood working.

A burial with military honors will be held Friday, May 31 at 9:00am at the Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery 2000 Mountain Creek Parkway, Dallas 75211. Pastor Rex Walker of Life Spring Church will officiate the service, and those serving as pallbearers will be: Steve Meeks, Steve Ormsby, Ryan Taylor, and Dan Griffin.

The family has asked that in lieu of flowers, please offer a donation in his honor with Faith Presbyterian Hospice that graciously cared for him.
