Obituary of James Avery

James A. Avery, Jr (Chuckie), 62, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on July 28th, 2022, in Dallas, Texas. James A. Avery, Jr was born in Elizabeth City, North Carolina to Willie Bea and James Arthur Avery, Sr. He attended Culpeper County High School and graduated in 1977. He went on to earn a degree in Finance from Bridgewater College. He worked as a Financial Planner for Ameriprise Financial Services for many years. For his most recent career change, James worked for USAA as a KYC Compliance Analyst. He enjoyed playing tennis, bike riding, and traveling. James is preceded in death by his parents, James Arthur Avery, Sr and Willie Bea Avery. He is survived by his four sisters, Cynthia Avery of Petersburg, Virginia; Sandra Avery of Hampton, Virginia, Stephanie Highsmith (Keith), Janice Gray, and one brother Anthony Avery all of Chesterfield, Virginia. He is survived by one uncle, David Avery (Evelyn) of Chesterfield, Virginia, four nieces: Angela Avery of Petersburg, Virginia, Christina Gray, Jessica Gray, and Jasmine Gray all of Chesterfield, Virginia. He is also survived by three nephews: James Sanders and Samuel Sanders both of Chesterfield, Virginia and Reinhardt Gray, Jr of Henrico County. A Celebration of Life ceremony will be held at City Church -Arboretum Campus, 9111 Midlothian, Turnpike, Richmond, VA 23225, on Saturday, August 20, 2022 at 1:00 pm.
