Obituary of David Houseman

David Michael Houseman, 59, of Fate, Texas passed away on July 18th, 2021 in Dallas, Texas. Dave was born in Springfield, Ohio to Dottie and Gary Houseman on March 10th, 1962. He attended North High School and went on to earn a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from Ohio University. After graduating, he served in the United States Air Force for 8 1/2 years as a Flight Test Engineer and was a distinguished Persian Gulf War veteran. After serving in the Air Force, he enjoyed a successful career as a Systems Engineer, and he most recently served with L3Harris Technologies for 17 1/2 years. He designed, tested, and integrated hardware and software for electronic sensors on aircraft and was known for being very talented at his craft. He loved country dancing, and some say that you couldn’t find a better dance partner than Dave. He was a craft beer connoisseur, and he enjoyed visiting breweries and discovering new beers with his friends. He was also a loyal lifelong fan of the Ohio State University sports program—go Buckeyes! An avid learner of the German language and culture, he enjoyed traversing the German countryside and was a member of the German School of Dallas. Dave is survived by his three children: David and his wife Michelle, Ryan and his wife Adrianne, and Stefanie; his four grandchildren, Angie Houseman, his mother Dottie and Lynn Swinger, his step mother Jessica Houseman, and his brother Bob Houseman. He is preceded in death by his father Gary Houseman, and his mother in law Patti Schmitt. Visitation will be held at Merit Memorial Chapel in Farmers Branch, Texas on July 26th, 2021 at 11:30AM. Burial will follow at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery in Grand Prairie, Texas. Merit Memorial Funeral & Cremation Care will be handling the funeral arrangements.
