My husband, Leslie Lewis or known affectionally by friends and classmates as "Tank" considered Danny as one of his best friends. As mentioned in one of the messages, Oak street was the center for the neighborhood kids to gather and play. What memories they all have of those days. Leslie told me that at Danny's house was the first TV he ever saw. He also mentioned the fireworks battles they had and all the other games they played. It was wonderful neighborhood and time to grow up with friends that people never forget.

The Burnette Family were our neighbors and friends on Oak Street in Lacy-Lakeview. Dan and Boyd were our playmates for many years. Many hours were spent playing hide and seek and all the kids games with them. Chasing them in a circle was the most fun. Oak Street had many special neighbors, Traywick, Kolar, Graham, Parrish, Lindsey, Greene, Lewis, Davis, just to name a few. That neighborhood took care of each other.
Dan graduated Connally High School in 1959 and went off to Baylor. We were all growing up and didn't play chase anymore. Mr and Mrs Burnette put up with the neighborhood kids playing in their front yard all the time. We probably messed up their flower beds but they were loving and allowed us to play.
I attended Dan's funeral Services and met his kids and grandchildren. It is evident that Dan and Ruth raised the children in the church and taught them the Love of Jesus. As a young boy Dan and the Burnettes attended First Baptist Church in Lacy-Lakeview. May God's peace and grace rest with you Dan. We will miss you.

Dan was a great brother in law. He was always kind, generous and willing to help. The minute he would pick me up from DFW Airport when I would come home for Christmas from California, he would say your California money is no good here. He wouldn't let me pay the toll to get out of the airport. I had to use trickery after that to pay for anything.
When we got to his home Lance and Jeff would be right there to greet me and give me hugs. They would immediately take in all of my luggage into the house. Ruth would be inside with Melissa with more hugs and the good smell of food Ruth was cooking.
He was the best man at our wedding when I married Michael in California.
We would always talk about the many politics in the business world that we dealt with at work.
I will always remember his smiling face and his expression the time we were at his home for Christmas and Michael jokingly planted a big kiss on his face.
Dan I will always miss you. I am glad you have the comforting arms of Jesus and all those who have passed before you, especially Ruth and Melissa to greet you.
