Obituary of Lara Michaelle Batten

On Tuesday, August 13, 2019, Lara Skelton Batten, loving mother of two daughters passed away at the age of 48. Lara was born on November 26, 1970 in Wichita, Kansas. She spent the early part of her youth living in Wisconsin before moving to Longview, Texas at age thirteen. She graduated from Pine Tree High School for the class of ‘89 where she was involved in many clubs and activities including Drill Team and Orchestra playing both the Piano and Violin. After high school, she attended Texas A&M where she became a proud Aggie and graduated with a business degree. After graduation, she started her own family and began a career in the insurance industry consulting with Employer on their Health and Welfare plans where she worked with a variety of firms before landing at MHBT, an MMA company in Fort Worth. Lara loved to live life to the fullest and traveled the world. She forged strong friendships with all she knew and was loved by many. She had many dear friends during her career from the people she worked with to clients and vendors. She maintained a strong bond with her high school friends, in particular her YaYa’s who she loved dearly. Lara is preceded in death by her Father and Mother, James B. Skelton and Anita Hendrickson Skelton, her Grandfather Hugh Hendrickson and Grandparents Roland B. Skelton and Willie Skelton, and Uncle Roland Skelton and Aunt Janie Skelton Hall.  Lara is survived by her beautiful daughters, Brianna Batten Dalton (Brian) and Ashley Batten, and stepson Jared Batten (Skyler) and baby Henry, along with their Father, William Batten. Also surviving Lara is her older brother Jim Skelton and his children, Melissa and Macey; her twin Brother, Greg Skelton (Evelyn) and his children Hunter and Tyler; and her Step Mother Traci Skelton. Survivors also include her Grandmother, Evelyn Hendrickson and Aunts Carol Hendrickson and Eva Kaufman (Marc). She has many cousins who survive her.  

 

A Celebration of Lara’s life will be held Sunday August 18th at Lake Arlington Baptist Church, 2912 Little Road, Arlington Texas 76016 at 2 p.m.
