Obituary of Ruth Ann Jennings

A celebration of life for Ruth Ann Jennings, 78, of The Colony, Texas formerly of Enid, Oklahoma will be held Friday, July 26, 2019 at 2PM at Enid Seventh-Day Adventist Church.

 

Ruth Ann was born June 4, 1941 in Kansas to Rita Kappel Ford and Cloyd Kappel and passed away Saturday, July 13, 2019 in Dallas. Ruth Ann grew up in Oklahoma. She married Raymond Jennings November 23, 1956 in Wellington, Kansas. They celebrated 53 years of marriage before Raymond’s death.  They made their home in Enid, Oklahoma where their daughter Deborah was born. They moved to Chicago where their daughter Valerie was born and later moved back to Enid in 1970. Ruth Ann spent her career in the medical field where she was known to many as Ruthie.  She began her career as a Nurse’s Aide at St Mary’s Hospital in Enid. Ruthie moved on as a Certified Medical Assistant at Northwest Oklahoma Orthopedic Clinic where she spent 30 years. She loved all the doctors and patients like family.  Ruth Ann was an active member of Pioneer Pleasant Vale Lions Club and supported Raymond in his Lions Club offices and activities for many years. She loved to travel especially to Las Vegas and New York City with family and friends. She loved music and enjoyed going to concerts and Broadway shows.  Ruth Ann loved her family and had a special place in her heart for her grandchildren. In 2012 she moved to The Colony, TX to be closer to her family. 

 

Left to cherish Ruth Ann’s memory are her two daughters, Deborah Smith of Austin and Valerie Farmer and husband Joey of The Colony, TX. Grandchildren Jeffrey Smith and fiancé Lindsey Jones, Jennifer Robertson and husband Alex, Brenna and Braden Farmer and great grand-daughter Violet Ann Robertson. Loving brother Bill Kappel and wife Diana of Louisville, KY, half-sister Reta Regenold, half-brothers Randy and Johnny Kappel and a host of extended family and friends.

 

She was preceded in death by her parents, loving and beloved husband Raymond, brothers Marvin and Gene Kappel, and her very special aunt Ann Replogle.

 

Memorials may be made to Oklahoma Lions Service Foundation or Oklahoma Medical Research Foundation, cancer division.
