Obituary of Dorothy Jane Spears

A memorial service will celebrate the life of Dorothy Jane (Skaggs) Spears at 11:00 am on Saturday, November 3, 2018, at Inglewood Baptist Church in Grand Prairie, Texas.

Dorothy passed away on October 30, 2018, at Legacy Living Memory Care in Arlington, Texas.  She was born on September 12, 1932, in Lewisburg, Kentucky.  While she worked several years in various positions at Saladmaster Corporation in Dallas, she most enjoyed her role as Mother and Grandmother.

Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Samuel Thurman and Verna Lucille (Collier) Skaggs, brothers Charles Thurman Skaggs and Truman Collier Skaggs, and grandson James Michael Bizzell, Jr.  She is survived by her husband of 65 years, Marlin Rue “Chubby” Spears, one daughter, Karen Sue Bizzell and her husband Michael, son Michael Truman Spears and his wife, Caron Elaine (Terry), one granddaughter, Sarah Elizabeth Bizzell, one step-sister, Sayre Beth Holland and her husband, Henry, and numerous other relatives and friends.

Dorothy loved her family, cooking wonderful meals, playing the piano and singing hymns, but she truly loved greeting new and old friends and sharing her love and smile.
