With heavy hearts and cherished memories, we announce the passing of Thomas J. Mouton, affectionately known as TJ, on July 23, 2023. Born on February 17, 1945, in Beaumont, Texas to Joseph and Tommie Mouton, Thomas embodied the spirit of love, touching the lives of all who knew him. His compassionate nature, humble demeanor, and dedicated spirit radiated in all his interactions, making him a beacon of kindness and respect. He was a loving individual who cherished his family deeply.
Thomas was a proud Air Force veteran who served his country with distinction. After retiring from the military, he continued to serve his community as a San Antonio metro transit operator until his retirement. A dedicated Dallas Cowboys and San Antonio Spurs fan, he relished the excitement of every game. His love for working on his computer, following political debates, and keeping up with world news showed his thirst for knowledge and understanding. His love for good seafood and cajun food was only surpassed by his love for his favorite restaurants.
Thomas married his friend and love, Michele Ann Hans, in September of 1997 who preceded him in death in December 2022. Thomas was a devoted father to Carol Ann Letscher, John (Michelle) Mouton, Mark (Jana) Mouton, Pamela (Russell) Minnick, George (Elizabeth) Hans, David Hans, Belinda (David) Mauck and 9 grandchildren: Samuel, Jace, Jovie, Amber, Catherine, Erica, Grace, Michael, and Jeremiah. Thomas is survived by his sister and husband Jennifer and Tony Lynch, brother and wife Rodney and Jane Mouton; and his many nephews and nieces.
He was a humble servant of his faith, attending St. Pius X Catholic Church regularly. In the words of Saint Paul, "God is not unjust; he will not forget your work and the love you have shown him as you have helped his people and continue to help them." (Hebrews 6:10). Thomas, indeed, was a living testament to this verse, constantly giving and never expecting anything in return.
We invite friends and family to join us in celebrating the life of Thomas on Friday, July 28, 2023, at Merit Memorial Funeral and Cremation Care, 12801 North Stemmons Freeway, Farmers Branch, Texas, 75234. Visiting hours will be observed at 11:00 am until time of funeral services beginning at 2:00 pm.
As we bid farewell to Thomas, we encourage everyone to share their memories and upload photos of him on his memorial page. Each story and picture will help us keep his memory alive, reminding us of his compassionate heart, humble spirit, and loving nature. Thomas may no longer be with us physically, but his legacy will continue to inspire us all.
