Obituary of Lora Louise Hetherington

Louise Hetherington passed away peacefully on May 9, 2023 at the age of 91 years in Plano, Texas. She was born and raised on a farm outside of Beloit, Kansas and graduated from Beloit high school in 1949. After high school, she moved to Topeka, Kansas where she met her husband Phil. Phil and Louise raised their family of 4 kids (Jerry, Gary, Jan, and Kevin) in Topeka and moved to Hasty, Arkansas in 1980 after Phil’s retirement from the Topeka police department. When Phil passed away in 2001, Louise remained on the Hasty property for many years until moving to Fayetteville, Arkansas in 2013 to be near her son Kevin. In 2018 she moved to Plano, Texas to be near her daughter Jan. Louise was a life-long and very active member of the First Christian Church and taught Sunday school until she was in her 80s. Louise was a very devout Christian and in her late 80s as her health began to fail, she made it very clear that she did not view death as anything but a positive experience and just another phase in her “life”. Louise was an active gardener, world traveler, splendid cook for family and friends, and she loved to dote on her grandkids. She is survived by her children Gary, Jan, and Kevin, 5 grandchildren, one great grandchild, and 4 of her 9 siblings.
