Judith Payne Skinner (Judy), passed away on February 14, 2023, at the age of 82. She was born in Dallas, TX, on July 8, 1940, to Juanita and Thomas H. Payne. She was a long-time Dallasite who graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1958 and the University of Texas in 1962. At UT, she loved her Chi Omega sorority where she made lifelong friends. She met the love of her life, Walter N. Skinner, M.D., whom she married in 1967 and they enjoyed 54 years together. Their son, Wally, was born a few years later which completed their family. Judy will always be remembered with her big smile....as she was a girl who loved having fun with her friends. She was very faithful to her Lord and enjoyed serving others in the community. Some of the organizations in which she served in a leadership capacity were: Dallas Medical Alliance, Dallas Symphony Orchestra, Salvation Army Women's Auxiliary, United Cerebral Palsy Guild, and Crystal Charity Ball, just to name a few. Judy was always able to gather her many friends to ensure the success of her projects. Judy enjoyed her friendships in the Dallas Woman's Club and Marianne Scruggs Garden Club along with the Village Review and Armstrong Review Book Clubs. Through the years, Judy and Walter were very active members at Highland Park Presbyterian Church. They also loved participating with Campus Crusade (CRU) and Young Life whose mission is spreading the word of Jesus Christ as your Lord and Savior. During Walter's failing health she was always by his side and relied heavily on her faith until his death in 2021. For many years, Judy's passion was antiquing with her friends as they traveled far and wide looking for treasures. They especially enjoyed their yearly trips to Round Top, TX. As an exhibitor at antique malls in Dallas, she loved sharing her finds with her customers. She was THE ultimate collector of furnishings, accessories, and American Folk Art which surrounded her in all her homes. She is survived by her son, Walter N. Skinner lll, her brother, Thomas H. Payne lll along with many nieces and cousins. She will be missed by her many friends who all loved and supported her through the years. Services will be held at Highland Park Presbyterian Church on March 10, 2023, at 1:30 pm with a reception to follow in Elliott Hall. In lieu of flowers, Memorial gifts may be made to the Dallas Symphony, Salvation Army, Highland Park Presbyterian Church, or the charity of your choice.
