Betty Regina Leininger, 80, went to her heavenly home on January 18, 2023. She died peacefully in the presence of her son and friends, confident of being reunited with her parents and friends who preceded her.
Betty Leininger is survived by her son Geoffrey Wayne Leininger, Frisco, Texas, her brothers George, and Reginald Parsons, both of St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada. She is preceded in death by her mother Bertha Parsons and father Reginald Parsons, St. Johns, Newfoundland, Canada.
Betty Leininger was born on August 15, 1942, in Salmon Cove, Newfoundland, Canada. As a young girl Betty developed an interest in showing her dog in dog shows which led to a 50 year career training, handling and then judging purebred dogs of all breeds. She was a popular judge throughout the United States and her expertise led to invitations to judge all over the world including Canada, UK, Italy, Japan, Australia, China, and many other countries. Betty’s judging career culminated in being invited to be Best In Show Judge at Westminster 2014, her sixth assignment at Westminster.

Beyond her career in dog show judging, Betty was a devout Christian, who actively participated in her Stonebriar Community Church community, delighted in listening to her favorite Bible teachers and enthusiastically prayed for others.
Her family wants to offer their grateful thanks to Dr. Wendy Mahone-Johnson, Dr. Jeffery Greenberg, the physicians and staff of Texas Health Presbyterian Hospital Plano, and the staff of the Faith Presbyterian Hospice for their efforts to help Betty and their sincere compassion for her family and friends during her bouts with her disease.
A memorial service will be held at Stonebriar Community Church at 1:00 pm on Thursday, March 2nd. Stonebriar Community Church is located at 4801 Legendary Dr, Frisco, Texas 75034
In lieu of flowers, Betty would appreciate a donation in her name to the American Cancer Society.
