Marie Rubit Key, 97, of Dallas, Texas, passed away on December 18, 2022.
A funeral mass will be celebrated at 10:00 am on Saturday, January 28, 2023, at Holy Trinity Catholic Church in Dallas with Reverend Derek Swanson, CM, celebrant. A burial will follow at Sacred Heart Cemetery in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
Marie was born in Cankton, Louisiana to Paul Rubit, Sr. and Elizabeth Hardy Rubit on September 20, 1925. She worked as a Seamstress and later as an Instrument Technician for Lake Charles Memorial Hospital for 27 years. She enjoyed sewing and other creative endeavors. She was a fifty-plus-year member of the Knights of Peter Claver Ladies Auxiliary Court 141 and the Christian Mothers, while also being one of the founding members of the Immaculate Heart of Mary Catholic Church in Lake Charles.
Marie is survived by her son, Joseph Robert Key, Jr., her daughter, Marva Key Butler and four grandchildren – a grandson, David Ashton Butler, and granddaughters – Olga Marie Guidry, Antoinette Monique Paul, and Kourtnie Key. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Joseph Robert Key, Sr., her infant daughter, Mary Key, her parents, Paul and Elizabeth Rubit, her brothers Paul, Peter, Ashton, and Mitchell Rubit, and her sisters Irma King, Catherine Sherman, and Mildred Rubit.
