Theresa Horvath Lustig was born in Serbia to John and Veronika Horvath and was the youngest of 9 children. Her family survived World War II. In 1966 she immigrated to Cleveland, OH in search of a better life for herself and her daughter Eva. This came at a great cost, as she left behind a large family and everything she ever knew. However, she found a supportive Hungarian community and steady work at the Weldon Tool Co, from where she retired.
Theresa worked tirelessly to provide a stable home life and a Catholic education for her daughter Eva. She reminded her daughter repeatedly that “No one can ever take away your education.” Theresa loved gardening, dancing, and singing in the church choir. She was a member and volunteered at St. Elizabeth of Hungary Church for many years.
After retiring she moved to Dallas, TX to be closer to her daughter. Together they enjoyed traveling to Serbia, Hungary, Canada, Hawaii, Florida, New York, Fredericksburg, and Eureka Springs. Theresa was known for her beautiful and delicious holiday confections. She remained feisty, sassy, and fiercely independent to the very end of her 88 years.
She is survived by her daughter Eva, her sister Veronika, and many nieces, nephews and dear friends
