Obituary of Diane Marie Halvorson

Diane Marie Halvorson, age 86, passed away on October 1, 2022, in Dallas, Texas at Faith Presbyterian Hospice. Diane was born in 1936 to Ralph and Mary J. Pape in Dubuque, Iowa. She graduated from the Academy of the Visitation in 1954. She went on to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Home Economics with a minor in Natural Science from Clarke College in 1958. She then went on to earn her certification as a Registered Dietician from the University of Minnesota Hospital program. She worked as a dietitian at St. Barnabas Hospital, Minneapolis, Minnesota. On June 11 th , 1960, she married James Eugene Halvorson in her hometown of Dubuque Iowa. Diane was a devoted housewife and mother to two daughters. Diane loved to cook and enjoyed preparing meals for her family, especially over the holidays. She supported her husband’s career that involved moves from Edina, Minnesota to Madison, Wisconsin; Memphis, Tennessee; and Dallas, Texas. She is preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, James E. Halvorson, and parents Ralph J. and Mary J. (Braig) Pape of Minnetonka, Minnesota. She is survived by sisters, Jeanne Connelly, and Deborah Bremseth; daughters, Sue Holmes (Michael), Heidi Parra (Alfonso); and eight grandchildren: Kathryn, Charles (Alecia), Daniel, Michael and Matthew Holmes; Lucas, Mario, and Sofia Parra. A funeral mass for the family will be held at 10:00AM Saturday, October 15th at Christ the King Catholic Church, 8017 Preston Rd, Dallas, TX 75225 with Father Ryan Hiaeshutter officiating. Burial will follow at Dallas Fort Worth National Cemetery. Memorial donations may be made to Christ the King Catholic Church.
