Obituary of Deborah Ann Griffin

Please share a memory of Deborah to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Deborah Ann Griffin, of Richardson Texas, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, August 31 st, 2022, at home surrounded by family. She had been fighting kidney cancer for the last year and a half. Deborah was born in New Orleans to Dianne and Louis Brockhaus on September 9th, 1952. She was the oldest of 6 siblings. She went to Salmen High School in Slidell, Louisiana. She met the love of her life while she was living in New Orleans with her grandparents. Dan had just moved to New Orleans after graduating college. He had seen her from afar and decided to ask her out on a date, where he cooked and made pineapple pork chops for them. They would meet every day after work at Pat O Brien’s and after only three months of dating, they knew it was meant to be. They were married July 5th, 1975, in New Orleans. After 3 years of marriage, they had their first daughter, Christy Lynn, on Deborah’s birthday September 9th, 1978. Less than 3 years later, they had Rebecca Jane, on July 31st, 1981. Deborah was a wonderful and supportive wife to Dan. She was also the most amazing mom to Christy and Rebecca. She was a homemaker for most of her marriage and made their home very loving and fun, a place you would never want to leave. She loved music and loved dancing around the house with her girls. She even made-up songs for going to bed, like the “Goodnight Train”. When her first grandchild, Carson, was born, she said she could never imagine loving another child as much as she loved her own children. She realized this was a new, different type of love and it was as big as what she already felt for her own girls. Later, she had three more grandchildren, Riley, Danielle and Elizabeth. Her love grew even more. Her grandchildren were her life. Each one of them thought and knew they were the favorite grandchild. While Christy and Rebecca got the “Goodnight Train” on their way to bed, the grandkids got the “Mimi Dance”. If you couldn’t find Deborah with her grandchildren, you would often find her laying on her stomach reading a book. Deborah is survived by her husband, Dan, her oldest daughter Christy and husband Ryan, their sons Carson and Riley of Wylie, TX, youngest daughter Rebecca, and her daughters Danielle and Elizabeth of Richardson, TX, her siblings, Richie, Lynn, Patti, Dianne, and Bobby, her numerous nieces, nephews and all the greats in her family. She is preceded in death by her mom and dad, Dianne and Louis Brockhaus. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to Three Oaks Hospice. The funeral service will be held at First United Methodist Church of Richardson on Thursday, September 8, 2022, at 1pm with Pastor Clayton Oliphint officiating.
