Obituary of Christy Moore
Please share a memory of Christy to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Christy Vanessa Moore, of McKinney, Texas, died peacefully on July 13, 2022, after a sudden illness. She was born on May 1, 1958, to Walter Lewis and Mary Claudette (Watson) Patterson in Dallas, Texas. She grew up in Dallas and graduated from Hillcrest High School in 1976. Christy attended the University of Texas at Austin. She graduated Magna Cum Laude from Old Dominion University in 1982 with a Bachelor of Science in Health Education.
She married William (Bill) Harry Moore in 1977. They lived in several different states during Bill’s service in the Navy. They moved to Granbury in 1984 after Bill’s service ended, and Christy was back in Texas to stay.
Christy’s career with EDS began in 1985 and spanned the next 23 years. Christy held a variety of leadership roles in communications, change management, and training. After Christy left EDS in 2008, she worked for several different companies in consulting and project management roles. Christy was employed by SAP SuccessFactors as a senior project manager at the time of her death.
After Christy’s marriage ended in the early 1990’s, she threw her energy into her work and raising her beloved sons Cody and Christopher. She was active in the Unity Church of Dallas.
Christy married Wayne Rickard in 2011. They decided to leave city life for a while, so they bought a home in Canyon Lake, in the Texas Hill country. They returned to the Dallas area in 2020, settling into a new life in McKinney.
Christy was an intelligent, wonderful person who lived a full life. She was generous, kind to others, and never knew a stranger. She was always on the go and involved with new ideas and projects, but her family and friends are what fed her soul. We will miss her immensely.
Christy is survived by husband Wayne Rickard, sons Cody Moore and wife Lindsey, Christopher (Chris) Moore and wife Jennifer, stepdaughter Vianna Rickard, and stepson Kyle Rickard. She is also survived by her beloved grandsons Bradley and Max Moore, sisters Penny Smith and husband Jim, Viki Patterson and husband Robert Kieschnick, niece Sara Kieschnick and husband Daniel Chow. Christy was preceded in death by her parents Mary Claudette Patterson and Walter Lewis Patterson, and nephew David Kieschnick.
A private service was held on July 23rd. It was Christy’s wish for her ashes to be scattered among the bluebonnets in the springtime. Donations in her memory can be made to The CJD Foundation (cjdfoundation.org) or Operation Kindness (operationkindness.org).
