Eugene Michael Amend Obituary Oct. 31st, 1950 - July 11th, 2022 Eugene (Gene) Michael Amend passed away peacefully into the arms of his Heavenly Father on July 11th, 2022. Gene was born in Jefferson City, Missouri on October 31st, 1950 to Paris and Mary Amend. After graduating from Helias High School in 1969, Gene enlisted in the Marines, where he received many recognitions. After his honorable service in the military, Gene attended the University of Missouri, where his educational endeavors culminated with a Masters Degree in Art History and Archeology. Gene married the love of his life, Brenda Kay Pemberton, on July 2nd, 1977. They soon settled in Texas where they raised their three sons. He proved a patriarchal leader in the house, inspiring Godly values within his family. Gene accepted Christ as his Savior in 1978. The family joined Northway Baptist Church in 1977, where Gene served faithfully as a Deacon, Royal Ambassador leader, and Sunday School teacher for nearly three decades. His love of Christ was evident in his daily encounters within his community. His role as a father afforded him opportunities to coach his boys in sports, and to put his imaginative storytelling skills to use each night as he told his sons elaborate bedtime stories. His playful sense of humor was well-renowned and enjoyed by many. Gene was a passionate gardener, an avid reader, an enthusiast for the arts, and a lifelong learner; always enjoying the pursuit of knowledge. Starting in 1977, Gene became an entrepreneur in the art industry. Through various self-started business entities, including Omni Art Inc., he acted as a dealer, advisor, and appraiser for over forty years. Gene brought a degree of professionalism to a young Dallas art crowd and aided in the success of many local artists, collectors, and business associates. Gene was preceded in death by his parents; Mary and Paris Amend, and brothers in law; David Gysbers and Larry Pemberton. He is survived by his beloved wife of forty-five years, Brenda Kay Amend. He leaves behind his three sons; Michael Lawrence Amend and wife Melanie, Matthew Christopher Amend, and Bryan Andrew Amend. He leaves behind his three grandchildren; Tristan Michael Amend, Kaden Lawrence Amend, and Tori Addison Amend. Gene was the fourth of six children. He is survived by his siblings; Paris Amend and wife Shirley, Ken Amend and wife Dien, Judy Heinrich and husband Earl, David Amend and wife Donna, Margie Sutter and husband Marty. In Gene’s own words: Eugene accepted Jesus Christ as his Lord and Savior in 1978. He witnessed to many over the years as to the relationship one can have with the Savior of the Universe.
