Obituary of THOMAS HENRY STUART

Please share a memory of THOMAS to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Thomas (Tom) Henry Stuart passed away peacefully on Monday, May 16, 2022, at his home in Plano, Texas. He was born on March 9, 1942, to John Thomas Stuart Jr. and Dorothy Alice Guthrie in Dallas, Texas. Tom is survived by his wife of 55 years, Sandra Jean Marcom of Dallas, Texas, daughter Lola Brooke and husband Raymond (Ray) Lester Isom, grandchildren Evangeline “Evie” Scarlett Wilson and Raymond Andrew “Andy” Isom of Leonard, Texas, and two older brothers, John Thomas Stuart III, and James (Jimmy) Stuart. He graduated with his best friend, Fred Close, from Woodrow Wilson High School in Dallas in 1961. Tom loved to sketch and draw and attended two years of college at the University of Texas at Arlington with his best friend to study commercial arts. Tom enlisted in the Army Reserve in 1965 and served in the National Guard Reserve band as a percussionist. He served our country honorably as a Private Second Class for over five years. His love for drums and beautiful music extended throughout his entire life. On June 14, 1966, he married the love of his life, Sandra. They enjoyed many years with friends and family going on vacations to places like Rockport, Texas to fish and to Ruidoso, New Mexico for the beautiful scenery. They also went ice skating together, enjoyed good food and drink with friends and family, and attended Texas Governor Clément’s inauguration in 1979. Tom was avidly conservative, enjoyed sitting on the porch watching birds, and had a deep love for dogs. Sandra and Tom adopted their only child, Lola, nine days after her birth on what they referred to as "Gotcha Day” on August 31, 1982. He devotedly supported her throughout her childhood, professional ballet career, marriage, motherhood, and taught her to love unconditionally. Tom loved his grandchildren, Evie and Andy, with all his heart and cherished spending time with them as he, himself, was such a kid at heart. He referred to Lola’s husband Ray as his “favorite son-in-law” and his hero. Tom was a passionate and diligent worker who was dedicated to the American Society of Safety Engineers, the American Legion in Anna (Post #194), and the Plano Community Emergency Response Team. He worked to ensure businesses adhered to safety and risk assessment strategies and, in all his travels, he never met a stranger. He loved to grill outside, collect coins, listen to classical music, make people laugh, and fish. Like all of us, Tom had challenges throughout his life, but always put the people he loved first. He was one with God upon his passing with his Bible bookmarked at 1 John 1. Thomas considered his best friend Fred and Fred’s parents, Martha and Fred Close, to be part of his own family. Tom was laid to rest at their side on May 20, 2022, at the Restland Cemetery in Dallas, Texas.
