Dear family of Philip,
I worked with Philip at UT System for ~4 years, 2005-2009, but I actually met him in NYC when he and Terry were there for a bond pricing (I was a young analyst at an investment bank at the time). I don't know where to begin in terms of what a big impact Philip had on my life and professional career. Although it was my third full-time job out of college, Philip was the first boss/department head I ever had that took the time to really mentor me and care about my future working life. It was a foreign feeling. He would add me to systemwide taskforces—I remember there was one about textbook affordability I served on, owing to him. He also urged me to apply for and undertake the UT System Management & Leadership Development Program, which culminated in a dinner at the Bauer House with the chancellor. So many opportunities that I had because of Philip. There were funny things, too, like when only a few weeks or months into my job, he got a call from building security saying that one of his staff wasn't displaying (wearing) her badge. He said to me, "Look, I don't really want to know, and I don't really care what's going on there, just make it so security doesn't call me again." I laughed with him about that four months ago in December when we had coffee again for the first time in a long time. There are Philip-isms that I still repeat to clients and other colleagues this day, like, "Perfection is the enemy of progress." (he told that to me when I overly red-lined an old policy when a few critical edits would've sufficed). And I'll never forget he is the only boss I've ever had (still, ten years later) that has just walked into my office at the end of a random weekday, sat down, and asked me how I'm doing, open-ended. Life, work, career. Just interested to know and willing to have the conversation. He is the utter definition of a leader, and the standard that I still hold everyone else to and probably always will. You have the best father, son, husband, brother ever., and he's also the best boss ever. I will miss him dearly.
My best,
Lisa Baird

Sending love and prayers to your family. I will never forget the kindness and warmth Philip and Jenny showed me during my time at UT. Being from out of state, I was so lucky to have such wonderful people I could reach out to at any time for everything from help with laundry to finding a part-time job. They helped me have such a positive college experience. Philip was a wonderful man and role model, and you are all in my heart.

Our entire family is grieving over Philip's passing. We will be forever grateful for how he and Jenny treated all of us, but especially our youngest daughter Melissa during her time at UT.
The love that was shown gave her a true home away from home and helped shape what has now become the rest of her life. All our lives are better because we had the great fortune to know Philip.
The entire Aldridge family is in our prayers. God bless.
Love,
Paul and Mari Crane

I will never forget the day I interviewed Phil for a teaching position. I heard his passion for God, His love for kids, and love of family. From that day forward I was blessed by him! He will always have a place in my heart and thank you for making a difference in my life and the lives of all who knew you!

I had the blessing to serve alongside Philip during GoWeek for 2 years. I received much more than I gave and the best and most lasting gift was my friendship with Philip. He showed us all how to love, live and share Jesus. I will miss my friend on earth but celebrate that, one day, we will be reunited in heaven, “We’ll done my good and faithful servant.” This isn’t goodbye but see ya later.

Lifelong friend of the Aldridge family. Phillip touched lives everywhere he went. We live in San Diego and there in spirit. Several years younger he inspired me to become a better person at a young age and will be missed by many. God bless the Aldridge family!

Mr. Aldridge was my math teacher in 8th grade. This was a very influential time of growth in my life. He made a huge impact in my life by always encourging me in school and in my faith. Every single day he would reach out to his students and share the Gospel or his dad wisdom with us. He always looked out for me at school and made sure that I was doing okay. He always had genuine conversations with me and I always looked up to him as a teacher and man of God. Every time I saw him around Hyde Park was a good moment and he was always kind and said hello or something funny and sarcastic. Thankful that we can rejoice in the fact that Jesus conquered the grave and that Mr. Aldridge is in paradise forever with Him
