Obituary of Lynn M. Stelly

On April 20, 2019 angels brought Lynn Mary Porché Stelly home after a long struggle with congestive heart failure. Lynn was born to Sidney Porché and Theresa Leon Porché October 31, 1942 in New Orleans, Louisiana. Lynn grew up in New Orleans, Louisiana with her 11 siblings, she was the fourth child and the second daughter. Lynn also resided with her grandmother Alma Leon periodically to help take care of her grandfather who was blind. [t1] 

 

Lynn graduated from Clark high school and later attended business school. Lynn went on to work in sales, she loved the challenge of working with people. Lynn remained in sales until she retired in 1987.  Lynn also loved decorating the Mardi Gras floats for the truck parades, which they rode in for a few years with family.   Lynn loved life and her family unconditionally. Her generosity exceeded that of most, as she assisted those in need selflessly. Some of her favorite pass times included reading, shopping and spending time with family and friends. Lynn also loved gardening and cared for flowers through her last days.

 

Lynn walked through life with her soulmate Vincent Stelly for 61 beautiful years, of those 61 years they were married 55 years. Vincent and Lynn had only one child, Madonna Alvarez who they cherished dearly.  God Called Vincent home July of 2016.

 

Lynn is survived by her daughter, Madonna Stelly Alvarez; son-in-law, Jeffrey Alvarez; two grandchildren, Blake Austin Alvarez and Lalaina Madonna Alvarez; and great grandson Jaxon Avery Gaskey. She is remembered by her six remaining siblings Gwendolyn Segue, Sylvia Johnson, Cynthia Toussaint, Debra Porché, Diana Johnson, Anna Berry, and a host of loved cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends. Lynn was preceded in death by her parents, three brothers, Sidney, George, and Phillip Porché, and two sisters, Roslyn Porché Gayle and Theresa Porché.
