Obituary of Guy Patrick McGraw

Guy Patrick McGraw was born on Wednesday, July 2, 1959 in Greenville, South Carolina to Donald and Patricia Hawkins. He passed away peacefully on Monday, February 7, 2022 at the age of 62. Guy was a loving son, father, friend and brother. He cared deeply for his mother, Dr. Patricia McGraw and cherished the time he spent with her, especially in the years since her retirement. (She loves that Guy was intelligent and a really good writer. He would give her beautiful cards and endearing notes, which she always displayed proudly.) In his younger days, Guy was adventuresome and, in his own words, “wild and crazy”. He shared wonderfully humorous stories of youthful antics and indiscretions; of missteps and second chances; of forgiveness and of God’s grace. Guy was also fiercely loyal, proud, and protective of his family and friends. He could always be counted on to be present in their lives and supportive when they needed him. He was especially proud of is children, Latisha and Patrick, and just in awe of grandson, LaKelsey, who shares Guy’s love of football! For the past eleven years and until the day God called him home, Guy lived his best life with his beloved Beverly. He said that she inspired him to be a better person, a better man. Guy will truly be missed. All who loved him will carry his memory forward in their hearts until we are reunited in eternity. A memorial service will be held to honor Guy’s life on Saturday, February 19, 2022 from 10:00 am to noon at Merit Funeral Home in Dallas, TX.
