Myra Brown Robinson, of Dallas, Texas died on January 16, 2022 at the age of 102. Myra was born on December 20, 1919, to parents Flora Bozeman and John Brown in Fort Worth, Texas. The family lived on the Triangle Ranch in Mitchell County, Texas, and traveled the 220 miles to Fort Worth to be near a doctor for Myra’s birth. Myra lived on the Triangle Ranch with her family and brother Reynolds from 1919 to 1925 when the family moved to Colorado City so that the children could attend school. She graduated from Colorado City High School in 1937 and attended UCLA. During her growing-up years, she endured the Depression and the Dust Bowl. Myra married Glenn Robert Robinson of Miami, Oklahoma, on April 5, 1942. Three weeks after their wedding, Bob was called to report for duty by the army where he served in the 95th Infantry Division in France and Germany and was discharged in October 1945 as a captain. Immediately after his discharge, Myra and Bob moved to Oklahoma City where Bob worked for Stanolind Oil & Gas. In 1947 Bob and Myra returned to Colorado City and with Bob’s father, Glenn Robinson, organized Robinson Drilling Company with three cable tool rigs. Glenn served as the landman, Bob was the tool pusher, and Myra was the accountant, working on the kitchen table after the children were in bed. When Bob Robinson died in 1972 as the result of an automobile accident, Myra retained the company and served as CEO for 40 years. In 2012 she moved to Dallas. Myra was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Colorado City where she served as organist for 20 years. She was later a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Big Spring, Texas where she served as elder. While living in Big Spring, Myra served on the boards of Schreiner University, Kerrville, Texas; the Texas Presbyterian Foundation; and the Presbyterian Church USA Foundation. She was awarded the Big Spring Woman of the Year in 1984. She was honored twice for her work in the oil industry: in 2003 she received the Top Hand Award from the Permian Basin Petroleum Association and in 2005 Myra was named to the Permian Basin Petroleum Hall of Fame by the Permian Basin Petroleum Museum. Myra was predeceased in death by her parents, her husband, two sisters and one brother. She is survived by her sister, Lucy Brown Saye of Clarendon, TX, and children Mike Robinson (Monika) of Big Spring, Myra Crownover (Terral Smith) of Austin, Anne Compton of Dallas and dear friend and assistant, Gloria Rocha. She was also blessed with eleven grandchildren and twenty-five great grandchildren. A memorial service will be on Monday, January 24, at 2:00 pm in the Sanctuary of Highland Park Presbyterian Church. 3821 University Boulevard, Dallas.
