Louis G Nivens, 93, of Murphy, Texas passed away peacefully on December 24 in Keller, Texas after a long illness. Louis was born in York, South Carolina to CB and Mary Frances Nivens on February 22, 1928. He went to high school at York high school and graduated in 1946. He worked as a small aircraft mechanic until being drafted into the army and serving a tour of duty in Germany as a tank commander. He went on to obtain a degree in mechanical engineering from the University of South Carolina and worked his entire career as a mechanical engineer for Western Electric which later became AT&T and Lucent technologies. He enjoyed woodworking and gardening and remained involved with special projects, usually involving woodworking for his church, Gloria Day Lutheran in Garland. He is survived by his wife Betty Lou of Keller, Texas. Survivors also include his son, Jamie and his wife Deborah of Southlake as well as his grandson Zach of Los Angeles. Additionally, he is survived by nieces Kathy Huffman of Orangeburg SC; Susan Hall of York, SC; Barbie Rodgers of Leesville, SC; Kathy Cloniger of Rock Hill SC; Amy Suessle of Jonesboro Arkansas and Julie Kelly of Sugar Hill, GA. He is also survived by nephews Steve Nivens of Columbia SC and Rhett Nivens of Orangeburg SC. He is preceded in death by his parents CB and Mary, his brothers Harry and Ray; his sisters Catherine and Thelma, and his beloved son Louis Brent. Memorial donations can be made to the charity of your choice. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to all of the caregivers, friends and neighbors who have done so much to help over the past few years. Funeral services at this time are still pending.
