Obituary of Charles Lotz

Charles H. (Sonny) Lotz Jr, 82, of Irving, TX passed away peacefully on December 15, 2021 with family by his side. He was born on August 5, 1939, to Charles H Sr and Grace Orme Lotz. He married Dorothy Peet Harris on February 14, 1986. They were married for 35 years. She survives to cherish his memory. Sonny attended Lanphier High School. He was a truck driver for most of his adult life. The last 16 years before his retirement he worked for Owens Corning in Irving TX. He enjoyed fishing and camping. He also liked football, specifically the Denver Broncos, and all types of auto racing. He enjoyed listening to classic country music such as Hank Williams, playing all sorts of games, and watching John Wayne westerns. Most of the time, you’d find him outside working on various projects. He was a family man through and through and valued his quality time with his kids and grandkids. He was preceded in death by his parents, his grandson Christopher Whitehorn and stepson Thomas Harris; sisters Lil Bischoff, Linda Young, Connie Burkett and brother Terry Lotz; brother-in-laws Orville Bischoff, Robert Koehne, and James Stengel. Sonny is survived by his wife Dorothy; sons Charles(Chuck)III(Cindy) Lotz of Auburn IL and Timothy(Maria) Lotz of Virden IL; daughters Robin(Jesse)Thomas of Keller, TX Jayne Bryan of Richland Hills, TX and Laura(John A) Dockins of Abilene, TX. stepchildren James Harris, Jr. of Irving TX, Cheri Phillips of Irving TX, Kevin Harris of Springfield IL and Christopher Harris of Irving TX. Grandchildren Joshua(Tiffany) Robertson, Christopher(Winonna) Miller, Ashley(Jesse) Pennington, Amber(Matthew) Joyce, Charles Lotz IV, Jeremy Lotz, Morgan Bryan, Alison(David)Smith, Tommy Lee Harris, Brandon(Bethany) Ronasi, Elizabeth(Jared) Cate, Kortney Lotz, Jacob(Bhritnee)Bryan, Ciara Ronasi, Harley(Danielle)Davison, Matthew Lotz, Brittany(Thomas)Lotz, Patty(Kris)King, Dakota Miller, Andrew(Makayla)Lotz, Marty Harris, and Jessica Harris. Also survived by 41 great-grandchildren; brothers William(Val) Lotz and Tom(JoAnn) Lotz; sisters Marion Koehne, Donna(Butch)Kunz, Stephanie Stengel, Rhonda(Dave)Kunz; brother-in-law Dennis Burkett and sister-in-law Sandy Lotz. Also survived by many cousins, nieces, and nephews. Cremation arrangements by Merit Memorial.
