Julienne Dossett was born the second of seven girls on 27 December 1928. She was born in Thiès, Sénégal, where her father, Julien Marie Bertin, did all his military career, advancing to Chief of Police. He decided to finish his career in France, where the family regrouped. Her mother was Hyacinthe Marie-Louise Pedrono. World War II began and she lived her teenage years under German occupation. After the war ended, she decided to pursue a career in the fashion industry. She went to design school and then traveled to Paris to enter high fashion couture. She was in Paris when she met an American GI and married. They had 3 daughters, Barbara, Florence, and Jackie. She thus started a new career as a military wife. The family lived in France, Italy, Germany and in the United States in Arizona, Washington State (where she became an American Citizen in 1961), and Texas. When her husband received orders to Vietnam, she was asked where she and the girls would live, and she chose Dallas. She became mother and father to the teenage girls for 4 years while her husband served two tours in Vietnam. She found her career in the fashion industry in Dallas and the family remained in the area. She was very talented and adapted well to new circumstances. Julienne passed away on November 16, 2021. She is survived by her 3 daughters; 3 grandchildren, Patrick Wickham, Josephine Hines (Brian Jahn), and John Hines; 4 great-grandchildren, Simon, Thomas, Iris, and Samuel; and 3 bonus great-grandchildren Matthew, Abigail, and Hannah.
