Robert Matthew “Matt” Harris was born in Amarillo, Texas on December 15, 1988, six weeks ahead of his due date, to Mike and Deann Harris. He ceased from his labors and entered the arms of his Savior on Labor Day, September 6, 2021. He overcame his premature debut in life, quickly growing into a fine young man. He was raised in Hereford, Texas. He attended Nazarene Christian Academy and graduated from Hereford High School. Matt participated with his family on the Nazarene Kids Church Ministry Team, assisting locally and traveling to various children’s camps in Oklahoma, Texas, and Arizona. During high school he participated in band and tennis. As a young adult Matt attended Southern Nazarene University and Southwestern Christian University. While at Southwestern, he met the love of his life, Summer Michelle Sherrill Harris at a college group at Northwest Christian Center in Oklahoma City. Matt and Summer were married January 4, 2013 at the church where they met. They started their life together in Kerrville, Texas and later moved to Sachse, Texas. Matt and Summer welcomed Max into the family in 2015 and Rhys in 2020. Matt is naturally funny and always had people laughing. Self-taught, Matt used his entrepreneurial spirit to work for several internet marketing companies and churches. He had many more business ideas not yet realized when his life ended too early. Matt went on numerous missions trip to India, Tanzania, and Honduras. He was incredibly generous — giving to people when they were hurting, taking homeless people for dinner, and buying meals for friends and family. He loved the outdoors and went on wilderness camping trips, “Husky Hiking,” with his friend Reuben Snode. Matt was an amazing cook, and he loved to share his creations with friends and family. Everyone loved Matt, and he leaves many grieving friends. He is survived by his wife Summer Harris, sons Robert Maxwell Harris and Rhys Matthew Harris, mother Deann Harris and her husband Dean, brother Richard Mitchell Harris, sister Kimberlee Megan Harris, and grandmother Nicky Anderson. He is preceded in death by his father Robert Michael Harris, grandparents Don Walser and Robert and Suzy Harris, and uncles Randall Harris and Ronne Harris.
