Ida Morren, age 81, passed away on July 31, 2021 in Frisco, TX. Her memorial service will be held on Saturday, August 14th, at 2pm at First Baptist Church in Breckenridge, TX with Rev. Andy Rodgers officiating. The family will welcome friends and family for visitation in the church sanctuary from 1:00-1:45 immediately before the memorial service.
Ida Lou McClure was born January 26, 1940 in Breckenridge, TX to parents Cecil and Mary Inez Taylor McClure. She grew up in Breckenridge, graduating from Breckenridge High School in 1958. She married Gordon Quinn on November 2, 1959 and they raised 3 children together. After holding administrative positions in education and healthcare, she found her true calling in criminal justice. She graduated from the West Central Texas Law Enforcement Academy in 1980, and began her law enforcement career as a deputy with the Eastland County Sheriff’s Department. She moved to Palo Pinto, TX in 1984 where she served as the Palo Pinto County Investigator. She became the Special Crimes and Chief Investigator for Palo Pinto County until her retirement in 2010. She came out of retirement briefly to serve as a deputy for the Stephens County Sheriff's Department.
She married Johnnie Morren on May 5th, 1989, in Mineral Wells, TX where they were able to work side by side during her years as the Chief Investigator for Palo Pinto County. In addition to her career, Ida loved horses, painting, and ballroom dancing.
She was preceded in death by her parents; her infant twin sister, Ada Sue McClure, husband Johnnie Morren, son Greg Quinn, son-in-law Jason Garland, brother Robert Brown, stepson David Morren and his wife Linda and step-granddaughter Kayla Rice.
Ida is survived by her daughters Mary Griffin (Jeff) and Kellie Garland; Grandchildren Trevor, Ty and Landre Griffin, Brandi Lamance, and Keellie, Kaellie, and Kiellie Quinn; 5 great grandchildren; sisters Faye Trussell (Sonny) and Margie Crounse; stepchildren Pam Hanson (Vance) and Tom Morren (Jeannette); 7 step-grandchildren and a host of loving relatives and friends.
Our family would like to say a heartfelt thank you to The Cottages at Chapel Creek in Frisco and to Total Hospice and Palliative Care for the excellent care and love shown to our mom. Memorials may be made to Meals on Wheels or the First Baptist Church Food Pantry or Building Fund in Breckenridge, TX or the charity of your choice.
