Knowing Jim professionally and personally while he was CFO at AA&Co was a distinct pleasure as well as fun! I can still picture and hear him laughing as he watched Bob Hunter and I drive one ball after another into the water on 18 at the St. Charles CC. Jim was kind and caring; I am grateful to have known him as a friend and for the memories he brought to my life. His passing creates a hollow spot that cannot be filled.

Was so fortunate, had a great learning experience and honor to work with Jim at AA&Co for several years in Albuquerque. Jim was an outstanding “no nonsense - straight shooting” leader and huge mentor for me in both my professional and personal life - long after we both left and parted our careers at AA&Co. Jim never coddled people but, rather, pushed them to excellence and only expected, in return, they would share such excellence in their respective tutelage of others in future endeavors. But he was always outspoken about never compromising ones honesty and integrity, no matter what the decimal level of opposing voices may reach.
Will miss Jim. And while I will always be grateful for all the time he shared with me in our post AA&Co lives, can’t help wondering how this earth will provide an equal replacement of character, integrity, compassion and love.

Jim was simply a great guy and a truly a professional accountant and advisor. I first met Jim in 1978 when I was with Arthur Andersen & Co in its Denver office and he was involved in the review of the work for a some of our clients. Later when he became the managing partner of the Albuquerque office he became the engagement partner for the Albuquerque Journal and other Journal companies of which I was the CFO. I relied on his advice and counsel greatly over those years. Given that I had played college basketball, he and I shared a lot of time talking basketball and attending AJ’s games. We also shared a lot of great tines on the golf course and he was a regular on my Journal golf trips. I have missed Jim greatly these past years since he retired and left Albuquerque.
My condolences and thoughts are with Jim’s family. He will be remembered and missed by so many people he touched over the years.

Jim was the personification of professionalism and was always a partner's partner. As the Managing Partner of the Western Region, I had many occasions to work with Jim in the promotion of the Andersen business and development of our people. Rather he was involved in challenging meetings or social events, his personality and warmth were always present. It was gratifying to have Jim arrange for me to deliver the keynote address at the University of New Mexico graduation ceremony - the mutual respect was apparent. We have lost a great partner who cared about the well being of the firm. May he Rest In Peace with the knowledge that his life and the impact he had on others will remain eternal. Tom B. Kelly

Jim was a childhood friend and next door neighbor. I knew his grandfather, his parents, aunts, uncles and cousins. We shared many experiences of growing up in small-town America. I will miss my good friend. Carmen Ward Kinsey
