Obituary of Almerinda Helton

It is with great sadness that we announce the recent passing of Almerinda “Mindy” Helton, who peacefully passed away May 31, 2021 in McKinney, Texas from cancer. Mindy was born in Newark, New Jersey to Mrs. Amalia (Molly) Cantero and Mr. Francisco Lopez. She moved to Southern California in the late 1950's with her immediate family. Mindy was the beloved wife and best friend of her one and only love of 32 years, the late Richard Helton of Corona, CA. earned a teaching degree, however chose a career as a loving mother and housewife. Mindy was a devoted mother to Michael, ~ wife Teresa and Michelle ~ husband Bruce plus numerous others as her home was always open. Mindy was a legendary ‘Hallmark’ grandmother to three grandchildren: Brandon, Trevor and Dominick. Mindy’s children, spouses and grandchildren never went without an extravagant Easter basket that made them the envy of the neighborhood. Delicious homemade Christmas goodies were expected by all in her presence during the holidays. Everyone loved Mindy’s cooking and it was agony because she did not leave leftovers in the fridge past two days. Mindy was well known for her obsessively clean and uncluttered house as the Salvation Army their yearly donations of items viewed as clutter. The exception being her collection of hummingbirds. Reading the ending of a book was how Mindy decided if it was worth reading in the first place. Mindy clearly enjoyed most endings since as an avid reader, she read a book a week. Mindy is survived by her brother Frank, her children Michael and Michelle, and grandchildren Brandon, Dominick and Trevor. Mindy is preceded in death by her husband, parents and many overfed pets. Her wise words, calm demeanor, and overwhelming thoughtfulness will be missed by all. Cremation arrangements were handled by Merritt Memorial Funeral Services in Farmers Branch Texas. Mindy’s remains will be laid alongside her husband Richard at Pierce Brothers Crest lawn Memorial Park and Mortuary in Riverside, CA. Wherever our mother's beautiful soul has been… There is a trail of beautiful memories.
