Obituary of Norris Fleming

Norris Fleming was born July 27, 1936, in Nevada, Texas to Inon and Eliza (Smith) Fleming. He passed away peacefully on Thursday, May 6, 2021 in Coppell, Texas. Norris grew up in Mount Pleasant, Texas, and as a youth was an avid reader and excellent student. He graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1953. After graduation Norris enlisted in the United States Air Force. He served active duty for twenty-two years as a telecommunications and operations specialist. He was honorably discharged in November of 1977 with a ranking of Technical Sergeant at Dyess Air Force Base in Abilene, Texas. After retiring from the Air Force, Norris enrolled at McMurry University in Abilene. After three and a half years Norris earned his Bachelor of Business Administration in Management (minor in Accounting) in August of 1981. Upon graduation, Norris began employment with Eckerd Drug Stores working in management. After working for Eckerd for 13 years he retired in 1994. Norris enjoyed an active retirement spending time with his wife, many siblings, children, and grandchildren. You could often find him at the local VFW dominating a game of pinochle, enjoying music and laughing with friends. Norris was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Sirron Kirk Fleming, and eleven siblings. He leaves to cherish his memories his wife of 53 years, Patsy Fleming of Irving, Texas, his son Stefon (Bonnie) Fleming, of Coppell, Texas, daughter in law Tena Fleming, of Abilene, Texas, and six grandchildren, (Kirk, Deion, Kyle, Kyrie, Natalie and Isaiah), and one great-grandchild (Kirk III), and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends. A Family and Friends Memorial Service will be held at Merit Memorial Funeral home on Saturday, May 22nd, from 1:00 pm - 3:00 pm. Merit Memorial Funeral Home 12801 N.
