Please share a memory of Dr. William to include in a keepsake book for family and friends.
Dr. William Gordon Silber On Tuesday, March 9th 2021, Dr. William (Bill) Gordon Silber, loving husband and father of five went to be with the Lord at age 64. Dr. Silber passed at UT Southwestern Clements Hospital in Dallas, TX. Dr. Silber was born on April 11, 1956, at the Montreal Jewish General Hospital in Montreal, Quebec, Canada. After receiving a BS in Bio-Chemistry, Dr. Silber went on to earn a MS in Bio-Chemistry with the highest honors. Afterward, Dr. Silber attended Medical School at The University of Toronto in Toronto, Canada. Dr. Silber completed his internship and residency at Yale’s New Haven Hospital Saint Raphael Campus. He then went on to complete a GI Fellowship at the Layhey Clinic in Boston, Massachusetts. Throughout his 30-year career in medicine, Dr. Silber provided the highest quality of care for his patients and their families. In hospital settings and in his private practice, Bill used his God-given abilities to care for others each and every day. Outside of medicine, Bill was ever-curious and saw the world as one giant classroom. From becoming an instrument-rated pilot to driving horses, Bill’s zest for life was infectious to all around him. Bill’s spiritual life has many facets. Born Jewish, Bill converted to Christianity and was an active member of Gateway Church in Frisco, particularly in the men’s group. Bill found solace in his life’s verse, Isaiah 40:31, “but those who hope in the LORD will renew their strength. They will soar on wings like eagles; they will run and not grow weary, they will walk and not be faint.” In 2014, Bill received a bilateral lung transplant, which truly gave him a second lease on life. Bill’s family wants to extend a heartfelt thank you to the donor family, doctors, and nurses at UT Southwestern whose generous acts provided him six more years amongst his family, and friends. Bill is preceded in death by his father, Andrej Silber, and his mother, Emilia Margeta Caba. He is survived by his wife, Shelley Silber of Frisco, Texas; his eldest daughter and her spouse, Alexandra and Ryan Schaller of Quebec, Canada; his eldest son, Jonathan Silber of Florence, South Carolina; his youngest daughter, Ariella Silber of Frisco, Texas; stepson and spouse, Devin and Megan McHatten of Celina, Texas; stepdaughter Amanda McHatten of Frisco, Texas; his four grandchildren, Octavia and Raven Schaller and Emerson and Lachlan McHatten; his sister, Louise Gimblett of Perth Andover, New Brunswick, Canada; his father and mother-in-law, Gary and Joan Kenney of Wyndham, Maine; his sister-in-law Cindy Kenney of Weatherford, Texas; his brother-in-law and spouse, Scott and Meaghan Kenney of Gray, Maine; nieces and nephews, Stephanie Gimblett of Halifax, Nova Scotia, Canada, Gabrielle Jones of Weatherford, Texas, Wyatt, Max, and Ella Kenney of Gray Maine, and Vivian Jones of Weatherford, Texas. A funeral service will be held on Thursday, March 18th, 2021 at Gateway Church in Frisco at 11 a.m. A viewing will precede the service at 10 a.m. with lunch following the service at noon. A graveside service will be held at Wear Cemetery in Prosper at 3:00 pm.
