Vicki was the granddaughter of my grandparents' next door neighbor, Mr. and Mrs. Paul Murray. The Murrays had four daughters who were chums with my own father, Mack Byers. I have heard many stories of their antics as teenagers, and we looked forward to visiting with June and Lynn in Reidsville so many years ago. Two memories I would like to share about Vicki: when she was about 8 or 9 years old, she would come to visit Mr. and Mrs. Murray. She and I would sit on their front porch in a glider while it was raining and color together. Since she was more "mature" than I, she chided me about my coloring! I would not color inside the lines and she was such a GREAT "color-er". Several years later, my family went to visit the Bridges. While the adults chatted away, they sent Vicki and me upstairs to her bedroom to visit. She had just graduated from high school and was planning to enroll at UNC-G... I was still in Jr.High or perhaps the 9th grade. Vicki had been a cheerleader at Liberty High School and was kind enough to teach me some of their cheers! I still can chant one of them today... which was almost like a song! Just looking up to her all of my life gave me a sense of pride in knowing how talented she was. I am saddened to learn of her passing and wish we could have kept in touch over the many years. The entire family was special to the Byers family... even to this day we have many wonderful memories of dear friends. May each of you be blessed and feel God's love at this time. In Sympathy, Sharon Byers Conner

Dear Joe, Cameron and Family,
It is with great fondness we remember the warm and witty Vicki and our long friendship with her, spanning over 35 wonderful years and the many memorable experiences we have had together during this time like the good times we had when we traveled to Europe, the many times we joked around at the IRPS social events, the fun get-togethers and parties in our homes in Houston and Dallas and the many dinners in our favorite Mexican restaurants in Plano. We cherish and vividly remember each and every one of these visits, which seem to have flown so quickly and wish we could have a few more.

I loved Vicki from the moment I met her so many years ago. My heart is broken. I still can't believe she is gone. I loved her like the sister I never had. Even though we had not seen each other much physically since we left Texas, we kept in touch. In our marathon telephone calls we talked about our families and what was going on in their lives; books and TV shows we liked and wanted each other to see -- and of course politics! We always joked at the end of our call about how we had solved all the problems of the world. She loved her family, Texas football, Watercolor beach and her many friends. Her love of the beach and mine were the same. We both believed it was what Heaven would be like. I know she is sitting on the beach with her toes in the white sand. Rest in peace, Vicki. I will miss you.

I met Vicki shortly after moving to Pebble Brook - she was always so welcoming and warm. Vicki loved our neighborhood and wanted everyone else to live it as much as she did. She was so engaged in various activities, she earned the nickname “Mayor” of Pebble Brook. She hosted so many events and was always trying to think of something new and different for us to enjoy! She was truly one of a kind and a dear friend! She will certainly be missed by so many - and certainly by me.

Vicki was an extraordinary woman and my best friend.
I met Vicki through The Plano Republican Women's Club about 24 years ago. We served on the board together planning, organizing many events, fundraisers and traveling to Austin for conventions. We were even chosen as delegates one year. We shared many laughs and stories while going to Austin and became close friends.
I admired Vicki's flair with fashion. We shared many" field trips "as we called them exploring boutiques, dress shops, fashion shows and restaurants in Dallas.
My husband Mark and I introduced Vicki to California red wines that she could enjoy throughout the years without giving her a headache. Mark and I have treasured memories of visiting Joe and Vicki in Watercolor Florida us walking the sugar sand beaches, enjoying happy hour at sunset and exploring the beach towns close by. One year for my birthday I experienced my first chocolate martini.
May God Bless Vicki and may she be as extraordinary in heaven as she was on earth!
All our love,
Mark and Jamie Stratman
