ORVILLE LEON (Casey) BOWLAND
Age 86 of Argyle, TX passed away on December 18, 2020.
Orville was born on January 6, 1934 in McDonald, Kansas to Oscar and Olive Bowland. In 1937, the family moved to Harvey Gap, Colorado, then Silt, CO, and finally New Castle, CO.
Orville joined the United States Air Force in October 1951 and was separated from the USAF in October 1955, at Davis-Monthan AFB, Tucson, AZ. He was an airplane mechanic during his time in the Air Force.
Orville and Bonda Lou Merrill (Bonnie) married in 1955 and then divorced in 1972.
Orville spent his entire career working for the defense industry. He started out with Glen L. Martin Company (later became Martin Marietta Company) in Denver, CO. From there, he went to work for LTV Aerospace in Grand Prairie, Texas. He then moved on to General Dynamics, Fort Worth, TX, which became Lockheed which then merged with Martin Marietta Corp. to become Lockheed Martin. Orville worked on the Boeing 747s as a Quality Engineer and as a Quality Manager for both 747 and DC10 programs.
Orville and Catherine married in November 1986. During their 34 years together, they lived in Trophy Club, TX; Portpatrick, Scotland; and most recently Argyle, TX.
After retiring, Orville spent many years volunteering for Habitat for Humanity. He loved working with wood and as a handyman, there wasn’t anything that he couldn’t do or fix.
Orville was preceded in death by his parents, four brothers (Arlie, Darwin, Dean, Gerald) four sisters (Gladys Boydstun, Lorna Dean, Veronice Frickey, Verna Pretti).
Orville is survived by his wife, Catherine, children Steven, Glenn and Maureen Scott; two brothers, Martin & wife, Rose; Jay & wife, Sandy; sister Leona Meadors; grandchildren, great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews and great-great nieces and nephews.
