Don loved to dance, and I have many fond memories of him whirling me around the dance floor. Very sorry to hear he has passed away, and I wish him the best in the next life.

Shared ‘our’ birthday and many dances with Don! His unbridled GLEE while out on the dance floor with all the ladies will forever make me chuckle. He would often say “I never thought I would be having SO MUCH FUN!” Deepest sympathy at the loss of such a true gentleman!

I am another person who was introduced to West Coast Swing and other dances through the patience and kindness of Don. He was always upbeat and encouraging when leading a new follower through intricate dance moves. He was a very important member of the dance community in his quiet, unassuming way. Condolences to his family and comfort in knowing he dances with angels now.

I met Don they dance at Grahams. He was a joy to dance with. He shared his cancer story with me when I was going thru it. I still remember sitting there in disbelief that he had battled cancer and was so strong. He helped me realize I could beat it too. For his friendship support and advise i am forever grateful. He was a wonderful person and is missed.

I met Don through the dance community in Phoenix. He asked me to come teach at Sunland Springs Village where he lived at the time, and introduced me to the activities director and many of the residents. I began teaching at SSV and taught dance classes there on Monday nights for several years. Each Monday night before class, Don would invite me over for dinner and cook for me. We got to know each other fairly well during that time. Don also did the bookkeeping for my classes there, taking the money and giving me a very accurate accounting after the class. He also invited me to attend some of the dances in his community and at other communities in Mesa.
What I didn't realize at the time was that Don was opening the door for me as a dance instructor in the Phoenix area. From teaching at SSV, my name became known to activities directors from other communities throughout the East Valley. My classes have expanded to many communities over the years, and I have met many dancers here in the East Valley. And I really owe that to Don for starting me out. I would see Don at many of my dances throughout the years, and he would always save me a dance (he was pretty popular on the dance floor). I even got to meet his grandson Jack who came to some of the dances with him. Don was a very nice, kind and intelligent man and will truly be missed.
