Greg and I were heartbroken to hear about your passing. Jim, you were one amazing standup dude!! We were blessed to have had the opportunity to work with you and honored to have been able to call you our friend. Even though we had moved to Colorado, we stayed in touch. . . your last text to us only a month 1/2 ago. I still remember that big smile on your face when Greg and I got to come visit you in the hospital and we brought you the superman blanket I made you. We pray you're at peace and dancing in the heavens pain-free, watching over your loved ones. Until we see you again!
Brown family, we send you our sincerest condolences. We pray that all your wonderful memories with him bring you comfort. Sending you all hugs and prayers from Colorado.

I worked closely with Jim at Rockwell. He was very dedicated and proud of his work. He had a tough last couple of years but hung in strong. Condolences to his family.

Jim and I worked together at Rockwell Collins (now Collins Aerospace) since 2009 on the same Navy Airborne Communication System. Jim was one of the test engineers responsible for developing the system test procedures, executing the tests in the lab and on the aircraft, writing up the test reports and supporting the Navy Test Squadron (VX-20) when they performed their verification testing of the system.
I remember a time when the Navy Test Squadron wanted to give something back to Jim and another test Engineer (Nathan) for their support of the system testing of the aircraft. You see, the system was quite large and sometimes it would take several weeks of testing to complete all the tests. These tests were performed at Tinker AFB in OK City, OK.
We were preparing to have a large Program Review meeting at Tinker AFB and the squadron asked if we could schedule a 30 minute meeting before the Program Meeting started and have Jim and Nathan attend. At the current time, Jim was supporting ground testing as well as flight testing of the aircraft in OK City. I told Jim and Nathan about the meeting, and asked him and Nathan to attend. Jim did not understand why he needed to be there and wanted to prepare for his up and coming test event on the aircraft. I had to say, "Jim, you need to be at this meeting." So the meeting kicked off and the Commander (CDR) of the Test Squadron got up in front of the entire group and started talking about how much Jim and Nathan had supported their testing of the system and that they could not have accomplished all their tasks without them. The CDR then pulled out two Navy flight suits with the VX-20 patch and Jim and Nathan's names embroidered on them. It was a very nice gift for the two of them. That was the only time in the past 11 years of me working on this system that the Navy did anything like this. I hope Jim appreciated it as much as we did seeing them get the suits.

Sorry to hear about James, he was my First Sergeant in the 963rd AACS and I would later go on to fly with him. He was a great mentor and will be missed by all of those who knew him.

I have known the Browns for more than 30 years. Jim's wife, Jodie, has been my best friend and through her I was lucky to get to know Jim. He seemed the strong and silent type...but his smile left no doubt of the gentle, adventurous and kind spirit within. He was a wonderful husband to Jodie and father to their sons. He will be missed. My love goes out to Jodie, Johnathan, and Justin today. Love, Lori Green

If a person is fortunate enough to have one true friend sometime in their life, then they are a member of an elite group. Because of Jimmy Brown, I am a member of that group. Through Christmas tree adventures, school hi jinx, trips to the movies as little kids, weddings, joy, tears and so much more, I am a much better person because you were in my life. And you always will be. Thank you Jimmy. Thank you for allowing me the honor to call you friend.

There are so many memories I have of my big brother growing up that i can not pin point just one. He had no fear and usually jumped head first into what ever he had going on ...I loved that about him , because I was opposite and scared that I would get in trouble for everything.
Jimmy I was so proud of the man you became- you served your country, loved your children and put your family first. We werent always close through the years because we all lived our lives in seperate states and countries sometimes when you were in the service but I always loved you and was so proud of you. I will be praying for your beautiful family and I pray God wraps his comforting arms around them always.
No more pain my brother, be at peace and see you when we all get to heaven...love you!

There are so many things I will remember about my brother. First, the strength he showed in everything he set out to accomplish. Second, his determination to be a good husband and dad to his boys. Third, his sly smile when he was up to no good or thought something was funny. His smile is the one thing I will remember the most - it always brings a smile to my face. There were so many years we were apart because he was serving his country. But, that did not diminish how important he was to me. I’m so proud of the person you became and your dedication to your family. There will always be an empty spot in my heart. I love you big brother!

Jimmy was always a prankster. I remember when he asked me to send him a bottle of skunk scent so he could get back at his sergeant when he was in Germany. Would like to have seen the reaction!! Mischief was Jimmy's middle name!
