Karnes
Good times at BH. One of the most straight forward guys I've met. Always kind upbeat and forthright. The Devil came a calling with your diagnosis and you gave him the finger. I applaud that and your never give up attitude. RIP my friend. You've earned it.

I never got to meet Michael in person. But he is the very dear friend of my daughter Kimberly Pruett. We started chatting through FB & I looked forward to reading his post daily! I loved his sarcasm, even though I didn`t always understand it! He meals looked amazing! I loved the fact that he loved his cat!
Karnes, I will miss your post, I am so sorry I never got to meet you. But we will one day. May you Rest In Peace.

I had the privilege to go to Western Kentucky University with Mike. We lived across the hall from each other for a year. During that time we shared a tiny kitchen where we cooked our mac and cheese and Ramen noodles. We attended parties together at the Delt house and generally had a typical college experience. During that time, Mike was looking for a summer job and asked about the camp where I worked in the summers. He then worked several summers at Camp Koch in Troy, IN where he was a beloved camp counselor and friend to campers and staff alike. His wit, humor and positive attitude will always be things I remember about Mike. Thankful that he is no longer in any pain. But gone way too soon. My prayers for his friends and family.

Thank you for your kindness, smile, intelligence, quick wit and sense of humor. I will miss it. As well as your crazy memes! You made me laugh and think. You fought hard and lived your life as you wanted to until the very end - with friends there. I hope you know how much you will be missed, rest in place.

I didn't know Michael well, but I admired the strength he showed while performing a challenging role in our organization. May this light blue candle match the color of the sky you are under now, Michael, in a place where all the pain and suffering is gone. Until we meet again.

Where do I begin? Met Michael “Karnes” at Brick House 6 years ago. He was so funny. At first I was like was that a joke then I quickly learned his witty sense of humor and that he had a heart of gold!
I have only very fond memories with him from picking me up and driving through winter storms only to continue work (or at least appear to) at BH, listening to his stories, but most of all how he listened too and gave his nonjudgmental support, his cool lunch box where he carried his goodies (meds), HH’s, lunches, bdays, shopping through Nebraska Furnitire Mart testing out all the furniture in the middle of a pandemic...what were we thinking lol. Popping in on his live gaming sessions. He would talk about them so I had to see for myself. Oh and Mambo Taxis will always remind me of him...our second to last lunch at Mi Cocina we both had one then we wanted another, but knew if we did that likely neither one of us would be able to drive so we agreed to split one! We were also insomnia buddies exchanging snapchats and stories...he would tell me to sing in the snapchats, but that was his specialty! Once he became Daddy to sweet Wednesday and joined the fur babe parent world, we shared lots of cat stories and pics. Loved how he loved his fur babe!
He will always have a special place in my heart for he was a true warrior and got through life with such positivity! I am grateful that our journeys crossed and was able to call him my friend. I will miss him, so until we meet again, hope he shines bright as he always did to know which star is him! Love and miss you my friend... <3

Mike and I met thru CompuCom many years ago and although we had both moved to different companies we maintained a connection through Facebook until his passing. We were very similarly "wired" and I endlessly appreciated his take and shares of pop-culture and life along the way. I will miss him and these connections but am glad his trials with cancer are through. Sincere condolences to his family and friends, this will take some time to stop stinging.

I have so many fond memories of Karnesy. But, my favorite memory is when Karnes, and I found a photo booth one night while out with our favorite girl Amanda, and the three of us having way more fun than any adult should with a photo booth. Love, and miss you always Karnes. May you rest in peace. Also, Karnes memorizing the IT Crowd’s long emergency number, and reciting it any time we went out!
