I'm Cynthia.. the middle child of 9 siblings by my Mom. I would often feel left out because I was to young to hang out with older siblings and too old to hang out with younger siblings..but often felt more accepted to hang with younger siblings. I guess is why I'm still young at heart..lol..my memories as a child with Dad. I was always looking for attention and his approval. I remember the first time he asked me to help him wash his car i was excited because it was one of those teachable moments that I got to spend time with him and learn something that I can be proud he taught me..but he would let you know if you didn't do it right and make yoy do it over. This is how we all have become so particular about thi gs being done to perfection. We all got it honestly..My wedding day is another great memory to have my Dad walk me down the isle is unforgettable and was a perfect day I will never forget. And then when Dad met my husband and founded out he was a handyman just like him, they would talk for hours..but it was still always something for my Dad to teach him..from that moment Sam became one of my Dads favorite son inlaws .they would talk at least once a week. The news of losing Dad was hard for both of us .He is gone but never forgotten. His teachable moments will live forever .All the butt .whoopens..the Stearn conversations about raising children etc .were all the things that has helped me in my journey of who I am today. We love you Pops and miss you..always in our hearts

Wow! What can I say about my dad? My dad said what he said and he didn't bite his tongue. I grew up in the house with my dad for 20 years, but I didn't really get to know my father, the man, until much later in life. I will always cherish the years I spent being a part-time caregiver to my father before he moved to Texas. He still lived on his own and driving until he moved to Texas. We had more conversations in those last couple years he was here than we had the whole time I was growing up in the house with him. He still is the hardest working man I've ever known, working up in his 80s - we all got our work ethic from him (all 3 groups of siblings). I remember he bought me a typewriter for my 8th grade graduation. That whole summer I would have to stay in while my friends were outside playing and practice on that typewriter. I used to be so mad at him for that. But I have been able to use that skill in every job I have ever had! Alright, enough of my rambling. We had a lot of complaints growing up as kids do, but it is surprising how perspectives change as you grow older and now you're in the spot. Soooo glad we had the opportunity to get together as a family for his 90th birthday - I will forever cherish that time. Mr. Young will be sorely missed. I will always hear him say to me in some of our discussions "yeah, you're right baby". I will always cherish what he put in me! Love you daddy!
