Obituary of Deborah Ann Dyer

Deborah Ann Dyer

November 15, 1950 – January 12, 2019

Deborah Ann Dyer passed away into the arms of her Heavenly Father on Saturday January 12, 2019.  She was surrounded by several immediate family members and one of her closest friends during her last hours.

Deborah was born November 15, 1950 in Wichita Falls, TX.  Deborah (also affectionately known as Debbie) grew up in Holliday, Texas, and Marlow, Oklahoma.  She attended Marlow schools from grade school through high school.  She was a high school cheerleader and basketball player, and after graduating high school, moved to Oklahoma City to begin her family.

While she raised her children, she lived in Midland, TX, Plano, TX, and San Antonio, TX.  During those years, her time was spent working as a legal assistant.  She was the first to teach her kids to camp, fish, and learn to water ski.  She was a woman of endless energy who would spontaneously dance and sing to the radio.  She listened to country music and loved to dance the boot-scootin boogie.

In her heart, Deborah was an artist.  Her creative talents included crocheting blankets, painting ceramics, and decorating.  In between helping with kid’s art projects, she taught herself to use acrylic paints, watercolors, and oils.  She eventually found her passion… behind the camera as a photographer.  She used her talents in photography and painting to become an accomplished photographer and digital photo editor.  While living in San Antonio, Deborah owned and managed her own photography studio.  She received several awards for her photography and digital editing.  Later in life, Deborah taught herself to sew so that she could make special mementos for her grandchildren.

In 1990, Deborah acknowledged her overwhelming struggles with alcoholism and turned her life over to the program of Alcoholics Anonymous.  With God’s power to keep her sober, Deborah built a new life for herself with her daughter, son, family, and friends.  During her 28 years in recovery with Alcoholics Anonymous, she consistently shared her life experiences and the message of God’s eternal love, which was demonstrated by the overflowing love and joy she held in her own life.

In 2010, Deborah married Charles Dyer in a family ceremony held in Allen, TX.  Deborah and Charles shared many happy years together in Plano, TX and recently in Wylie, TX.  They both worked at Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Texas.  Charles kept Deborah laughing with his jokes, especially at the end of her journey with cancer.  They were affectionally called Mimi and Poppy by Deborah’s grandchildren.

Deborah was preceded in death by her father, Jim F. Minnix, her mother, Beulah Fay Minnix, and her brother, Jim R. Minnix.

She is survived by her husband, Charles Dyer of Wylie, TX; daughter, Trisha and Jason Davis of Plano, TX; son, Blake Hause and Jennie Wackler of New Braunfels, TX; brother, Kyle and Teresa Minnix of Waco, TX.  She has 4 grandchildren, Haley, Jonathan, Owen, and Jacob.

Services will be held on Saturday January 26, 2019 at 1pm at Hunter’s Glen Baptist Church 4001 Custer Road, Plano, TX 75023.
